Q: Which instruments are accepted in the competition?
A: We accept a wide range of instruments, including but not limited to piano, guitar, strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. If you're unsure whether your instrument qualifies for the competition, feel free to contact us through our contact form. Additionally, applications are always open for the vocal, composition, chamber music and conducting categories.
Q: Are there any age or country restrictions?
A: No, the competition is open to all music lovers regardless of age or nationality.
Q: What are the application requirements?
A: All requirements for each category are listed on our "Categories & Requirements" page. No additional information, documents, or materials are needed beyond what is listed there.
Q: What style of music is required for this competition?
A: For performers, all musical styles are welcome across different age categories. However, for period-specific categories such as Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Modern, only pieces relevant to those eras are eligible. For composers, all styles of composition are accepted, but MIDI files are NOT allowed. Only audio or video recordings are acceptable.

Q: Can I use the same piece/video to apply for multiple categories?
A: Yes. You can submit the same piece or video across multiple categories, as long as it meets the specific requirements of each category.

Q: Can I have several pieces in one link? Can there be a gap between the pieces?
A: Yes, you can submit one link that contains several pieces, and pauses between them are permitted. You may also submit multiple links if you are applying for multiple categories. Please separate each link with a comma (",") when filling out the online application form. Note: In the Original Composition and Film/Game Music categories, only the first piece will be considered if multiple works are submitted in a single application.

Q: Can I play more instruments in one video?
A: You can only play one musical instrument per application. If you wish to showcase a second instrument, you must submit a separate application.

Q: How do I submit my video?
A: You can upload your video to YouTube, Vimeo, Youku, or any accessible video platform. Submit the video link via the online application form. *If you do not have the video ready, you may submit the form first and send your video link by email before the competition deadline.

Q: Can I use audio backing tracks if I don’t have an accompanist?
A: Yes, using audio background accompaniment is allowed.

Q: As a composer, am I allowed to submit my work even if it’s performed by others?
A: Yes. Composers may submit works performed by other musicians or submit their own performances. Computer-generated tracks are accepted, but MIDI files are NOT allowed.

Q: Can I play a single movement of a sonata/concerto?
A: Yes. You can submit one or more movements.

Q: Can I submit a video longer than the listed duration?
A: You may submit a longer video, but only the first X minutes (depending on your category’s time limit) will be considered during the evaluation.

Q: Do I need to show my hands in the video?

For instrumentalists: Your face and hands must be visible in the video.

For vocalists: Your face must be visible.

Camera angle changes and basic edits are allowed, but it must always be clear that the performer is the applicant.

This rule does not apply to composers.
Q: As a conductor, am I limited to submitting videos of me conducting an orchestra?
A: No. You may submit videos of yourself conducting any group—whether orchestra, choir, small ensemble, or chamber group. The key is to clearly showcase your conducting skills.

Q: What are the key evaluation criteria?

Depending on the applicant’s instrument or specialty, judges will evaluate the technique, rhythm control, musical character, and artistic maturity presented in the submission.
A2. Musicianship / Expressiveness / Presentation / Creativity

Judges will also assess musicality, interpretation, emotional expressiveness, stage presence (for performers), and originality (especially for composers).
